TRANSPORTEUR a 1909 iron hulled Luxemotor Dutch Barge Length 75 feet Beam 13 feet Draft 3 feet 7 inches
Transporteur was a dry cargo carrying barge that plied the Dutch coast and canals until the 1960’s.
Originally powered by a 1909 single cylinder Kromhout hot bulb air start engine which sadly passed away in 2006, This has been replaced with a 15 litre 4Lw Gardner engine. As the boat was a dry cargo carrying vessel the hold had 20 lift off roof panels, which were replaced in 2008 at a cost of £10,000 to retain its history and character.
Over 6 months in early 2017 the boat under went a full high quality re-fit including internal and external painting at a cost of £45,000. Now with a new Boat safety certificate, and being booked in for dry dock April 2018 for a hull repaint and hull survey. There is a large rear cabin, not currently used but has its own staircase from the rear deck. There are port holes to port, starboard and stern. This cabin has power ( 240 volts ) and water which is capped off. The engine room which is large and has a head room of 7 feet houses an impressive fully restored Gardner 15 LW engine, a Ruggerini powered silent generator ( start button in the galley) a Victron inverter/charger, which can also be connected to shore power 6KVA lights and 240 volt sockets, and 500 litre water tank. ( another 2000 litre tank is in bedroom 3 )
Starting with the wheel house, The wheel house has been fitted with an easy to remove oak faced marine ply upper glazed section with lift off doors and an oak seat with storage below.
Engine room both the main engine and the generator had a full service in the summer of 2017. 3 new Victron domestic batteries and crank a battery were fitted.
The main hold has been completely gutted and refitted with new floor, ceiling, walls, tanks, bathroom, kitchen, lights and radiators. The whole floor area was first fitted with marine plywood sub-floor with a high quality insulated solid oak floor throughout ( excluding the captain’s cabin in the bow ), New ceiling with removable 10’x 4’ section for access for larger items of furniture, wall cladding to galley/salon and the ceiling has been fitted with new insulation. New kitchen with unique central island which is fitted with lockable wheels. New bathroom, bedroom walling , beds and LED lighting throughout and new power sockets and switch plates. Also a new water tank and waste tank ( both 2000 litres) both with gauges.
Galley/Salon: 24 feet x 13 feet.
The galley has a fully fitted kitchen with plenty of drawer and cupboard space. Fitted with a new gas water heater for summer use, a fridge, dishwasher and hob. There are 240 volt switchable ceiling LED lights, gunwhale lights, power sockets with USB ports, generator start button and engine room water tank gauge.
The Island with power socket to floor seats 4 people and has a wine rack, wine fridge and set of drawers. As it is on lockable wheels it can be moved over to the gunwhale and plugged in. The saloon end is fitted with an Esse Ironheart which provides heating and hot water during the winter months and has a new back boiler. The Esse has two hobs and an oven providing amazing cooking. There are a number of 240 volt sockets and a water gauge for the main water tank.
Oak floor, heated towel rail, full sized bath with shower and glass screen. New sea toilet with raw water inlet and then pumped to waste tank in bedroom 2. The bathroom is part tiled and has a new wash basin with mirror, waste tank gauge and 12 volt LED lighting.
A somewhat snug double with 4’x6’3” bed with water tank beneath. 240volt socket with USB ports and phone shelf and 12 volt LED lights.

Bedroom 1 Captain’s cabin:
With access from bedroom 2 and also via its own companionway from deck. This was the original captain’s cabin and still retains many of the features including seating and storage cupboards. This cabin has a period fire and there is a double bed beneath the stairs to the deck. 12volt LED lights and 240 volt socket with USB port.
